Custom Tor Sofa for a Milanese penthouse apartment

Our Tor sofa provided the starting point for this custom design, created for a penthouse in Milan. The Tor's smooth, bean-like form was reworked into a more angular silhouette, echoing the chamfered corner of the apartment’s living room.

Several configurations were explored during the design process, including three- and two-cushion seats and a divided back that would allow the sofa to fit inside the lift. Ultimately, the client chose the cleanest, most contemporary expression: a fully hand-sprung fixed seat and sprung back, each made as a single uninterrupted component. Too large for the lift, the completed sections were craned directly into the penthouse.

A plinth base was also considered, but the final design retains the Tor’s characteristic semicircular feet in solid walnut.
